the end is nigh!

My final year degree show is fast approaching so everything is made - all thats left to do is my portfolio, put up the degree show and make business cards (as seen below) which feature images of my final pieces.

On another note the Da3 shop was featured on the creative nottingham website, and i've got a mention as well as a few girls on my course;

Third year shop opening - 'Da3'

On the 5th of May me and fellow third year students at Nottingham trent, set up and opened a shop in central nottingham on the outside of the Victoria Centre. We are trading for four weeks and had a private opening evening which was a great success! Here are some images of the end result...

flatware..

A few weeks ago I made a large mould which is abit awkward and heavy to cast from but I'm happy with it, its a big serving tray measuring about 40-50 cms long, so voila ...

above is new master which will end up being a sugar bowl, this photo is a mock up of how it may look with a the mini iron as a handle..

Porcelain accessories

For the past few weeks I have been making some porcelain jewellery consisting of necklaces, brooches and earrings, all in aid of raising some dollar. This weekend I am being a stallholder with a few friends at a vintage arts fair in my hometown of Sutton Coldfield. Here are a few of the end products which have been glazed and decorated with transfers..

Ceramic Art London 2011

I have arrived back from being a helper at ceramic art london which is held in the Royal College of Art. The exhibit was full of ceramicists from all over the world, so I went with a friend to help set up the show and speak to the makers themselves, and hopefully gather some inspiration and tips. Here are a select few photos of artists there..

knob making..

Above is a serving dish I have made whilst I was toying with ideas, it's a mixture of slipcast porcelain handles and slabrolled porcelain, may have misjudged the size as it will shrink majorly in glaze firing, but hopefully this idea will develop..

one of my door-knobby mugs, they are currently the bane of my life as they keep snapping off!

Bon journo!

Slipcasting in process, this mould will end up being the vessel for one of my mugs..
